Abstract

We consider that it is possible to find a meaning of the word patres that goes beyond the one contributed by the doctrine, the sources and the tradition of Roman Law, a sense that makes possible to show the great connection between thought and word, because the word express the concept, and even more, the derivation. Patres is part of the Indo-European linguistic patrimony, therefore it is necessary to do a retrospective look toward the most genuine sense of the word judging by the etymology.
