Éste es un acercamiento al pasado reciente de las ciudades españolas, desdela función comercial entendida geográficamente como fuente de vida, agente decrecimiento espacial, modelador de paisajes e indicador complejo sobre lasformas de vida y relaciones de clase. Se reconstruye el sistema de distribuciónexistente hace medio siglo, prácticamente desaparecido hoy, valorando en él lapermanencia y transformación de elementos heredados, tanto en términosfuncionales como en su tras-lado al escenario urbano.

L’après-guerre et la ville,mémoire du commerce perdu.- On étude le passé recent desvilles espagnoles et sa fonction commerciale au sens géographique: source devie, moteur de la croissance, créateur de pay-sages, et indicateur complexe surles formes de vie et les relations de clase. On reconstruit le système dedistribution existant pour un demi-siècle (presque disparu aujourd´hui), laconservation et la transforma-tion des éléments hérités, comprisfonctionnellement et dans leur distri-bution sur la scène urbaine.

Abstract

The post waryears in the city, the memory of the lost trade.- This is a brief outline of the events about the early past of theSpanish cities, looking at the commercial function (in a geographically-basestudy) as a source of life, an agent of the special growth, as the one thatshaped the landscapes and as a complicated indicator of the way of life and therelationships between people of all social classes. The existing distri-butionsystem (almost extinct nowadays) half a century ago is recon-structed. In thatsystem we assess the continuance and changes of inher-ited elements, not onlyin a functional way, but also in the urban setting.
