Abstract

The author of the article points out that he does not intend to analyse all aspects of the subject being dealt with. The sources taken from the sphere of a number of the ancient laws make evident that a relationship existed between the development of « ancient commercial law » and slavery. He comes to the conclusion that the slave-holder society was able to influence the various commercial law related institutions contributing to their formation and even to their perfection..
