About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Magister publishes annually (before 2021 half-yearly), original works of applied research in the field of teacher training and educational research. Magister accepts papers in Spanish or English, theoretical reviews, descriptions of experiences in training and educational innovation, literature reviews and empirical research.

Journal History

Starting from a long trajectory linked to the School of Teacher Traiming of the University of Oviedo, Magister now seeks, under the umbrella of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, to take a step forwards towards the service of cutting-edge research in the field of Education and Applied Educational Practice and consolidate as a reference in the discussion of critical issues within the field of Education Sciences.

From the Editorial Board, our main aim is to publish those texts that can constitute relevant contributions within the broad spectrum of experiences related to Education. Above all, we intend to collect those empirical and applied evidences that can guide the identification of the most relevant aspects to be taken into account, as well as their position and proportional role within the set of teaching and learning processes. Teacher training and improvement of educational practices will be the fields that constitute the axis of the journal, addressing issues such as educational innovation (in the school and social sphere), teaching strategies, evaluation, or the use and role of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), among others.

We could agree that, to a large extent, the quality of a journal is directly related to the soundness of those who conform the working team. In this sense, this Journal is based on solid foundations. Over the years, the Journal has benefited from the experience and effort of the members of the Editorial Board, and has maintained a high-quality level in terms of the quality of the published works and the periodicity of the publication. Since its creation in 1983, the Journal has maintained a history rich in experiences and distinguished in achievements. During all these years, it has been exceptionally led by the different editorial boards, who have given continuity to the initial efforts and making possible that this journal continues having an important place at todays research map.
