Abstract

The concern for the maintenance of traditions was and is something that must still be considered in the people of Israel. The times and their vital cycles were always a challenge for the family institution, since the inheritance and memory that gave Judaism, its raison d'être was at stake. Biblical accounts from the original couple, through the patriarchs and kings, only confirm that the Hebrews were very aware of their environment and the cultures that were part of their daily lives. With the literary diversity, from the biblical to the rabbinic, critical thinking on assimilation and loss of traditional historical memory stands out, as well as being able to verify the sociopolitical environment in which every Jew lives, especially in the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The inculturation of this period was especially intense and dramatic in terms of personal relationships. The fear of the loss of Jewish identity was evident.
