Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in RIDROM. International Journal of Roman Law

Introduction

The journal RIDROM. Revista Internacional de Derecho Romano is committed to maintaining scientific integrity and transparency in the application of artificial intelligence (AI). This policy defines guidelines for the appropriate use of AI tools by authors, reviewers and editors.

Fundamental Principles

In accordance with the guidelines of the COPE Declaration and scientific best practice:

  • AI cannot be considered an author, as it lacks the capacity to take responsibility for scientific content.

  • AI cannot manage conflicts of interest, copyright or make ethical decisions.

Guidelines for Authors

  • Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must explicitly declare the use of any AI tools in the creation or analysis of their manuscripts, including the software used, its functions and the sections of the manuscript where it was applied, as well as the extent to which AI contributed to the research results.

  • Responsibility for Originality: Authors are responsible for the originality of the content, even if it was generated or assisted by AI. Material must not infringe copyright, or engage in plagiarism.

  • Thorough Review: Authors must meticulously review and check AI-generated content for bias, errors or inaccuracies.

  • Consequences of Non-Compliance: Failure to comply with this policy may result in the withdrawal of the manuscript, in accordance with the procedures of the publishing institution and the COPE code of conduct.

Ethical considerations in the use of AI

Any misuse of the AI will be dealt with in accordance with COPE guidelines and the ethical standards of the editorial team.

Policy evaluation and update

In order to adapt this policy to the technological advances in AI, to the regulations that regulate it and to the practices in scientific publication, the editorial team will evaluate and update it periodically.

Consequences of non-compliance

Failure to comply with this policy will lead to the rejection of any text, the withdrawal of the text, and the application of COPE guidelines.
