Abstract

From the perspective of constructivism, children's learning of spelling is a constructive process involving errors, questions and hypotheses that can be more or less correct. A study was conducted on first and second year primary school children in the province of Toledo (Spain) to assess the different spelling errors related to capitalization. Qualitative and quantitative analyses were performed on the different kinds of texts prepared in didactic workshops. The results and conclusions should help to better understand the children's concepts of spelling norms, and should help to improve their teaching.
