"Language and literature education in the age of artificial intelligence: Challenges and opportunities for innovation"

Call for papers

The emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in education, particularly in the field of Language and Literature Education (LLE), is bringing about a profound transformation in teaching and learning. This technology has introduced new challenges for research and teaching in LLE while simultaneously offering opportunities for innovation. Specifically, GenAI facilitates the development of teaching resources, assessment support, instructional planning, the adaptation of materials to address diversity, and the personalization of learning, among other applications. At the same time, its use raises difficulties and ethical dilemmas that require careful reflection and a critical attitude from both teachers and students. Consequently, there is a growing interest within the research community in studying the impact of GenAI on language and literature teaching practices.

This special issue aims to provide an overview of the main current lines of research and innovation related to this topic. We welcome submissions reporting scientific research on the opportunities offered by GenAI and its impact on language education (first language, second languages, and foreign languages), as well as on literary education, at any educational level. Priority will be given to rigorous empirical research or bibliometric reviews with an appropriate theoretical and methodological foundation. Where applicable, submitted manuscripts must include evidence of approval from the appropriate research ethics committee.

Descriptors:
